Book Week 2023
Welcome to Book Week 2023. This year we are looking forward to a packed programme of events. Book Week is straight after half term so time to get busy!
Monday – Wednesday
Teachers are planning lots of story and poetry related activities in class. Check in with your children to find out what they have been up to.
Tuesday 28th February: Book Sale and Swap (after school)
Bring in your preloved books. You can either swap them for another book or donate them to the sale. The school council is organising this event and profits will go towards our new playground.
World Book Day Vouchers
Each child in school will receive a £1 voucher for World Book Day on Thursday. These can be used towards the cost of any book or for a £1 book. Please could we ask you to support local bookshops or our Usborne Book fair.
Fancy Dress Competition: Thursday 2nd March (Morning)
Please send your child dressed in their costume. We can help with last minute adjustments but do not have time to dress a full class! Group entries are allowed however, the prizes will be shared. Please make sure your child is wearing a ‘base-layer’ that they can wear later if they are uncomfortable. Alternatively, they can bring school uniform to change into.
(Nursery Children who attend in the afternoon, may still dress up in their costumes)
Reading Competition Final: Thursday 2nd March 1:30pm (Rec to Yr 6)
The school will gather to listen to the finalists in the reading competition.
Reading Safari: Friday 3rd March (Afternoon)
Teachers, sports coaches and volunteers will be reading stories around the school. The children will set off on safari after lunch. Please contact school if you would like to take part. You can travel with a group or tell a story – fancy dress is optional.
Usborne Books Sale: Friday 3rd March (after school)
There will be a range of new Usborne Books for sale in school after school on Friday. Children will have the opportunity to browse the book fair during the afternoon.
