It is an absolute privilege to be the new Headteacher of Sir John Barrow School, a successful and inclusive primary school with integrated nursery provision, in the very heart of the Ulverston community.
As a member of the local community, I know how important it is for local schools to be a thriving part of the town and this ambition is shared by all staff.
Our motto ‘Succeeding, Enjoying, Belonging’ encompasses who we are and what we are about. We want to prepare all children in our school for their very best and positive futures. We are determined to ensure all children experience a whole range of successes during their time here with us; we strive to make learning meaningful and relevant so children enjoy their days and create many magic moments and of course our inclusive approach means all children experience a sense of belonging.
Recognised by Ofsted as outstanding in 2023, we look to continually improve and provide the very best care and learning opportunities for all our pupils as well as our staff.
We are very proud of our children and the active part they play in the running of their school. We are fortunate to also be supported by an active parent group and skilled governors.
The school is a key partner in the Furness Primary Federation with other schools in the local area and works collaboratively with other professionals and businesses for the benefit of our children, their families and our staff.
I hope the website gives you a clear impression of what makes SJB a unique and special place to learn; our doors are always open, so if you would like to visit and see for yourself, just give the office a call to make an appointment.
With best wishes,
David Reddy
